Starting Anew

I’ve decided to make this no longer limited to food blogging. I think that just became an excuse not to do anything with the site when I didn’t have anything food-related to talk about. So with my new life starting out on my own in a house in Port Jefferson, NY with a job at the bakery across the street, I figured I could relaunch the site as a general weblog–with the inclusion of food-related posts along the way, of course. 😉

All of the previous entries will remain up, and since the next two weeks are going to be filled with sorting through my things here at my parent’s house, preparing to move in to my new place June 1st, and working halfway across the Island all the while, have a look at my Flickr account while you impatiently await my next update here. There are plenty of photos there I never had the chance to reference in any posts–including a cake I baked this morning, so feel free to comment your heart out there. :]

  1. Yay, you updated! Congrats on graduating! Unfortunately I never got to taste your wonderful cooking. Haha, sucks for me, can’t really find time to go to Stony after I sold my life at a low hourly rate to an Italian doctor at Upper East Side, Manhattan. Good luck with your new job. Port Jeff, eh? I remember driving there to eat lobsters back in Stony days… lol.

  2. Erm, I actually wasn’t going graduate yet. 😡 I still have one more semester to go, heh.

Sorry to hear such an unpleasant statement about your job! Maybe you can keep an eye open for something you’d like better in the meantime?

And yeah, hehe, there’s a seafood place right next door to the bakery that I’d like to check out sometime this summer. Looks good. 🙂

  3. I like that pirate portrait of yours, it’s soo cool. Oh my bad, umm I thought you did because you moved out and got a job as well, heh. Um, yeah please don’t stab me to death with color pencils… but if you want to drown me to death in alcohol, please do. :vodka:

  4. I like that self-portrait, too. 🙂 It was a lot of fun to make.

I’m moving into a place off-campus because I lost my room on-campus for the fall. X/ The re-registration day for housing wasn’t very publicized this year, so I missed it and someone else took my room. I’d been wanting to get my own place anyway, so it just raised the priority from “maybe this summer” to “I need to find a place NOW.”

And the job is so I can pay for the apartment! Heh. But I’ve also wanted to work in a bakery for a long time now, and I really lucked out here. This bakery is AMAZING, and I love it, so I’m thanking my lucky stars I got a nice place right across a parking lot from a great job in a town that has tons of art galleries and should prove to provide good inspiration for my artwork. 🙂

  5. That’s good, you’re becoming independent so fast! Well… at least faster than I will be haha… Sadly I’ll be chained at home for a while. Hmm, amazing bakery eh? Sounds like a good place to go to and pig out.

  6. Aww. Sometimes staying at home isn’t so bad. Free housing and food, after all. ;D But I’m definitely looking forward to the coming year on my own. It should prove to be an interesting and worthwhile experience at the least. 🙂

You should come and pig out at my bakery! Hahaha! It’s really not any more of a trip than Stony Brook would be, since it’s just the next train stop. I can fix you up an espresso drink better than any Starbucks, and you could have some incredible goodies. Our chocolate chip cookies are THE BEST I’VE EVER TASTED, and I could go on and on about the goodness of basically everything else as well, heh. XD
